Description | TITLE: Developmental Specialist SUPERVISOR: Assistant Director of Manorville Day Hab/Director of Manorville Day Hab SALARY RANGE: $18.50hr - $19.25hr
The Developmental Specialist (DS) coordinates services that the developmentally disabled adult receives to ensure consistency. The DS assists the Assistant Director of Manorville Day Hab and the Director of Manorville Day Hab with training and supervision of assigned Developmental Specialist Assistants (DSA’s).
RESPONSIBILITIES: E- Connotes Essential Functions E-1 Provides daily proactive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning E-2 Uses a proactive approach to offer and actively encourage consumer choice making; utilizes physical redirection techniques as per OPWDD SCIP certification and individualized adaptive behavior plans E-3 Ensures assigned DSA’s, as well as themselves, observe and supervise the consumers during all daily routines: arrival, classroom, program and leisure activities, community centers, recreation, community integration trips, lunch and departure. Actively participates in these activities E-4 Ensures assigned DSA’s promote self-sufficiency by guiding, teaching and monitoring and if necessary, providing physical assistance to the consumer during the performance of self-care routines including toileting, hand washing, eating and personal grooming E-5 Drafts the consumer life plans and staff action plans in the following areas: self-care, communication, independent living, mobility, learning, economic self-sufficiency and self-direction and submits to the Assistant Director or Director of Manorville Day Hab for review in a timely manner E-6 Completes all Medisked responsibilities daily as well as behavior documentation, positioning, pica, sweeps, etc E-7 Ensures community integration occurs weekly 8- Completes quarterly reviews, weekly notes, daily activity schedules and paperwork; ensures DSA’s are in compliance with this process 9- Communicates with other departments within the agency when necessary for the care of the consumers 10- Attends Manorville Day Hab’s committee meetings, staff meetings and in-service trainings as assigned 11- Adheres to all OPWDD and IGHL policies; including Safety and Code of Conduct. Completes agency non-reportable and incident reports as needed or required 12- Encourages suggestions from assigned DSA’s and requests supplies for program and classroom needs 13- All other duties as assigned ADDENDUM FOR EMPLOYEES TRANSPORTING CONSUMERS E-1 Responsible to transport consumers to and from programs and/or daily activities
